Class Offerings

Denver Cooperative Preschool (DCP) offers morning and afternoon programs for children ages 15 months through 5 years. Each class has at least two paid staff members, consisting of a teacher and assistant, in addition to a parent helper. Our school is licensed through the State of Colorado. Classes are held September through May, following the Denver Public Schools’ calendar. Additional summer camp opportunities are also offered for children who are three years old and independently potty trained.

Parent-Tot: Young children attend with a parent and are gently introduced to separation for a portion of the class. Ages 15 to 23 months.

Two/Threes: Developing cooperative play in a fun learning environment. Ages 2 to 3 years old.

Three/Fours: Social development with peers in an encouraging atmosphere. Ages 3 to 4 years old.

Pre-K: Kindergarten readiness through self-directed play. Ages 4 to 6 years old.

Free Form Friday: Enrichment topics that go beyond the Pre-K curriculum.

Learn 'n' Lunch: Lunch Bunch and additional enrichment learning experiences combined in the classroom.

Extended Day and Lunch Bunch Programs: After school and lunch program for children three and older and potty-trained.

Class Activities

Music: While music, singing and movement are part of  the daily class experience, a specialized music teacher provides weekly musical enrichment for the two year old through pre-K classes.

Outdoor Play: Two age-appropriate playgrounds offer children a safe and exciting place to run, tumble, skip, swing, jump, climb, hop, laugh with delight, holler with enthusiasm and explore our outside world.

Art: Open-ended art materials are made available to children during every class. The emphasis is on the process and not the end product, as children delight in their own creations.

Dramatic Play: Props and costumes are readily available for role-playing and dress-up to help children apply meaning to their world and build social skills with peers.

Open Play: Children choose from a wide variety of activities set up for them in the classroom, ranging from puzzles, play dough and crafts to sensory tables, building materials and toys.
