Sara Kirk

Hi everyone! My name is Sara, and this is my fifth year teaching at DCP. This community is such a special place, not only for the children and families, but also for us educators, and I feel that I have truly found my teaching home.

I grew up in beautiful, sunny Colorado where I received a BA in English from the University of Denver and completed a teaching licensure program at Metro State College, specializing in Early Childhood. I have taught in a variety of settings, most notably teaching Kindergarten at an international school in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Fostering children's passion and wonder, celebrating their creativity, and supporting their emotional intelligence and resilience are central to my teaching philosophy, and my experiences abroad have deepened my appreciation for the diverse cultures, languages, and family traditions that make up any given classroom. Some of my favorite things to do with my students include snuggling up with a good book, leading cooking and baking projects, and acting out stories together as a class!
